Nike Paul George 2 Performance Review

Paul George’s second signature shoe with Nike : the Nike PG 2 was originally released on February 10th, 2018 with a price of $110. Always, the Nike series is very popular, then will the Paul George 2 be so popular too ?

It seems that the shoe is so well-designed and so perfectly priced, thus making the shoe more perfect.Seeing the images, some may feel disappointed owing to the shoe’s appearance. But how does Nike top one of the best-selling debut sneakers ever? Let’s find out…

The shoe was designed by Tony Hardman who designed Paul George’s first shoe. For its appearance, I think everyone has his/her own ideas. From the shoe we can see there are some personal elements of the designer Tony Hardman.

For the shoe’s setting there isn’t much difference compared with the Paul George 1, but the Paul George 2 is more like the Hyperdunk 2017 which also has a one-piece shoe body . In addition, a soft suede material is applied to the heel and forefoot toe part thus making the protection performance slightly increased.

In terms of the lacing system, it has equipped with the improved Meta-Wing in order to achieve the effect of “adjusting the forefoot width”, but it can also lock the heel firmly after tightening which can be said to be innovative and practical.

For the cushion : I was in love at first sight the moment I saw the Zoom unit . The Nike has increased the thickness of the Zoom by two millimeters with no fillers in the middle, so this time you can directly feel the springy and comfortable cushion. It is the increased size and top-loading the unit that makes the forefoot area of the PG2 bouncy and responsive without feeling unstable.

As I mentioned, there are not any fillers in the midsole, but the Zoom unit in the forefoot is made thinner thus making your foot closer with it. Also, the increased thickness improves the bouncy feeling . Granted, with such good setting I believe the forefoot cushion and the experience start-up will let you more satisfied.

For the support : This time Nike has done very well – it can wrap your foot well in the forefoot . When in actual performance, the fillers in the heel is ample so you feel it wraps your foot tightly. The Nike has equipped the support piece instead of velcro so that you can easily adjust the forefoot tightness . Wide base, stable foam, locked-in forefoot — everything needed for a solid support shoe, and the PG2 is solid. Perfect ,right? So whether you are wide footers or narrow footers , it is a gospel for you.

For the grip : this is the most satisfying part of Paul George 2 . It is the grip that makes me surprised most. I can’t even describe it in words. Personally, I think the grip is as good as Irving 3 and Irving 4. Even if you want to play outdoors,it still has excellent grip though the rubber will probably wear away rather quickly . But if you play on clean floors then the Paul George 2 is serious Crazy Glue.

For the shoe’s material ,I am quite disappointed .The extra protection area on the forefoot and on both sides are made of suede,so once it wears out it looks so ugly .

The wrapping of Paul George 2 is not so good as that of the first version for the tongue and the overall boot are separated.Although the full-wrapped inner boots are sometimes uncomfortable but when such a design is replaced we will miss it instead.

Though the Zoom unit in forefoot does better, the cushion in the heel is not good.So you’ll feel it stiff at first ,but after some time breaking in you’ll find it performs well.

The heel cushion and wrapping become the biggest shortcoming of Paul George 2 ,but progress can be seen that the heel stability is greatly improved. Meanwhile, as a pair of sneaker that can adapt to all kinds of foot players, it is also very popular with its price and adaptability advantages.

Here I highly recommend the shoe to you who like breakthrough and fast-feeling . Yes,it is not the best ,but it is more outstanding than most shoes. With its nice colorways,it should be a shoe which is worth buying this year.

As the first  signature basketball shoe of Paul George, Nike Paul George 1 was first unveiled in August 2016 and has hit retailers for $110 in 2017 ,making Paul George the fourth active NBA player on Nike’s roster with a model of his own. And the shoe features a forefoot Zoom Air unit, a full-length Phylon foam midsole and a mix of neoprene. Then please go on reading.

The Paul George 1 can be marked as a success but there is room for improvement and it lays a strong foundation for future versions.

Paul George’s untimely injury in 2014 not only jeopardized the project’s timeline, but it’s very existence.

His injury in his right leg once made many people think that Paul George’s career would end but surprisingly he returned in 2015.

Next it is time to take a look at the shoe’s actual performance.

This colorway comes equipped with translucent rubber outsole which is of great help for the shoe’s grip though many of you will think of the  “translucent rubber outsoles just aren’t as good as solid rubber outsoles” theory , but ,you are wrong this time.

Before learning more about it, you might be busying  theorizing but surely you will be busying enjoying it once you try it on.As you step on court you can obviously feel that the outsole is providing great grip for you and definitely ,you will be pleased with it.

But no one is perfect, and so is the the shoe. If you are playing on dusty court then the outsole will invite some dust to its surface ,therefore, wiping every now and then is necessary for good performance.

The shoe works really really well, but this is not enough for those who need extra support and prefer robust support systems. Most of the shoe’s support comes from the midsole. I can say the support and lockdown of the shoe are quite excellent . As I have mentioned before, the shoe features mid-foot straps and also the forefoot strap really locks your feet in.

More importantly, there is no heel slippage thus making the stability of the shoe ensured. What’s more, the support so good in every direction that you feel the shoe is just a part of your body.

The Zoom air unit in the forefoot ensures the basic cushion you need. If you have never experienced it before then I highly recommend you have a try, but if you experienced it before then you know how it feels and performs. It gives you a fast response and protection.

The midsole features a lightweight Phylon foam that gives you another kind of cushion. And this setup helps make the shoe much lighter . In short, forefoot Zoom, soft Phylon midsole, responsive court feel — that combination is definitely a setup worth taking a second look at. At $110, I can say it is just a good signature model.

I always love to say it really fits true to size, but in fact, the fact is just like this. For me, the fit is also a highlight of the shoe. It does fit true to size for most of you owing to the great use of the materials and thanks to the lacing system, it does great help in keeping your feet locked in and secure.

The overall fit is quite good and after a break in period the feel is just better. And you will ultimately find the shoe fit to be great like me.

The shoe is so good thus I think Nike deserves any success that comes with Paul George’s first signature model  though the Paul George 1 is not perfect. The cushion ,support ,stability and not expensive price are all the shoe’s features and also ,advantages thus making the shoe become many people’s favorite Nike of the season at any price. Personally, Nike Paul George 1 is a fantastic on-court performer in my opinion but you can also have your owns. Sure, you will totally love it.

Paul George will finally have is own signature shoe with Nike Basketball. Known as the Nike PG 1, they are scheduled to release during Spring 2017.The first Nike PG 1 comes in an Obsidian, White and University Gold color combination which has an Olympic feel.

Now here we go ;

Mesh and leather upper materials hold the foot in place while balancing durability ,and ventilation,Especially the FUSE combination with Leather .It is improve the supporting very well.

Wrapping : Full bootie construction provides the perfect fit.It did the good job ,we feel very snug when playing ,especially  the  filled memory sponge of the heel which firmly lock the ankle .So the wrapping is excellent . The lace system also help a lot ,the fly line in the forefeet also improve the wrapping .For me , my feet have a little wider . so my feet also feel tighten .

Cushioning: Injected Phylon midsole provides a comfortable for feet .PG1 use stable ride and responsive cushioning which improve landings and quick jumps.

Zoom Air unit in the forefoot which sector provides responsive cushioning for an explosive first step. PG1 seems like MELO 9 which no longer hesitation. This is the best favorite reason that we choose .But I feel phylon is not enough when I jump . Maybe I am over weight .

Rubber outsole for durability and a multi-directional traction pattern to help you avoid slipping on the court.

Forefoot strap locks the foot down for dynamic movements on the court.

Fit : the size is true for the fit .But I suggest that if you have a wider feet , you can choose over half size .

The bottom of outsole  used  fish pattern for improve the grip  . The grip is very well ,especially XDR material is snug .

Overall , George’s first signature shoe is focused on top-tier performance with the perfect blend of durability, cushioning, and comfort all in a lightweight silhouette, and it is worth .
